The sommelier at your table

Tell it what you’re eating. It tells you what to order.

TurboSomm™ takes your whole table’s order and reads the restaurant’s wine list against it — then tells you which bottle to order, and exactly why it works with each dish.

What actually goes wrong

Reading the list was never the hard part.

Plenty of apps can now tell you what’s on a wine list. Useful — but it isn’t the question you’re sitting there asking.

The question is which of these four hundred wines you should order tonight. For this table. These dishes. This budget. With the server waiting.

That’s a sommelier’s job. That’s the job WineProdigy™ does.

How it works

Your order goes in. Your wine comes out.

Type what the table is having, or say it out loud. Seconds later you have an answer you can give the server with confidence — and the reasoning to back it up.

1

Pick the restaurant

Choose where you are. If we already hold the list, it’s there waiting.

2

Say what you’re eating

Type it or speak it. Dishes, the way you’d order them.

3

Order with confidence

A clear recommendation, priced, explained, and matched to the table.

Why the picks are good

It reads the plate, not the menu heading.

A dish is more than the protein it’s filed under. WineProdigy™ weighs what actually dominates the plate, and what the rest of the table has ordered alongside it — the way a good sommelier does before suggesting anything.

One bottle the whole table can share

It looks for the wine that serves the most dishes well and clashes with none — not the one that suits whoever ordered first.

And it says when one dish sits apart

When somebody’s order really doesn’t belong with the table’s bottle, you’re told which dish — and what to pour beside it instead.

Always an answer

You always get an answer: the best wine on the list for your table. And if nothing suits a dish well, we tell you so and show the closest choice.

Where it works

Wherever you’re having dinner.

Restaurant lists we already hold come up first, enriched and dated — browse those on the way in. Anywhere else, add the restaurant and photograph the list at the table.

The app works anywhere in the world (value verdicts currently use US retail prices). And as more diners join, the depth of pre-loaded restaurant lists expands by the day.

Value, where it belongs

A bargain you don’t want to drink isn’t a bargain.

Fit comes first. Among the wines that genuinely suit the food and your palate, the better-value ones rise to the top — so you’re choosing well and paying sensibly, in that order.

Every wine carries a plain verdict — Excellent, Good, Typical or Steep — weighed against what that wine actually sells for at retail. Open any bottle to see the figures behind its verdict.

Restaurants commonly charge two to three times retail, and sometimes far more. Sometimes that’s worth paying. You should get to decide that knowingly.

Honest by design

It tells you what it doesn’t know.

Wine lists change. Restaurants don’t always publish prices. A photograph catches some pages and not others. Rather than paper over any of that, we show it — look closely at the screen beside this and you’ll see it happening.

“Closest match — details limited”

When we can’t be certain a wine is the wine, we say so and show less, rather than showing something plausible and wrong.

“Price estimated from 2019”

Where a figure is older or thinner than we’d like, it’s labeled, not quietly rounded into something that looks current.

Every list carries its date

You see how current a list is before you rely on it.

Yes, there’s AI in here. But this app is built from deep sommelier knowledge, and it renders real wines on the real list, at real prices. It never invents a wine or a score, and where a taste description is our estimate, we say so.

Why WineProdigy

Where the other wine apps stop.

Some apps identify a bottle from its label. Others tell you what a wine costs. A few will offer a broad recommendation. None of them answer the question you’re actually holding: of everything on this list, what should we order tonight?

About WineProdigy™

Passionate about wine.
Obsessed with accessibility.

Our founding team travels the world to discover and enjoy its wines. But we know that even the most well-traveled drinker can’t know every bottle on every list — let alone what it should cost.

We built WineProdigy™ so that anyone can sit down at any restaurant and order as well as the most knowledgeable person at the table.

“Choose with confidence. Impress the table.”

Questions

Good to know.

What is TurboSomm™?

It’s the part of WineProdigy™ that turns your table’s order into a wine recommendation. You tell it what everyone is eating; it reads the restaurant’s own list and comes back with the wine to order, its value verdict, and the reasoning for each dish on the table.

Do I need to know anything about wine?

Not a thing. That’s rather the point. Everything is in plain language, including the explanation of why a wine suits what you’re eating, and a full Learning Hub if you’d like to go deeper. But even deeply experienced wine drinkers will appreciate being able to sort and filter a long list themselves, and turn up the hidden gems.

How many dishes can it handle?

Up to four — enough for most tables. You can type them or use your phone’s keyboard microphone to say them.

How many restaurants does the app cover?

It can be used at any restaurant, in any city, in any country. Many restaurants have their full lists already loaded and enriched. For those that don’t, a quick scan decodes the list in seconds — and adds it, so the next diner finds it waiting.

How do you judge whether a wine is good value?

We compare the restaurant’s list price against what the wine typically sells for at retail, drawn from current listings, and reduce that to a plain verdict you can read at a glance — Excellent, Good, Typical or Steep. Expensive bottles usually carry smaller markups, so the bar for Excellent gets stricter as prices rise. Open any wine to see the figures behind it. Where we can’t establish a reliable retail price, we say so rather than guess.

Does it use AI?

Yes, and it’s worth being precise about how. The recommendation is made by an AI sommelier — but it chooses only from real wines that are actually on the list in front of you, with prices and ratings drawn from real data. And the logic of the system has been conceived over an extended period by expert humans with deep knowledge of, and passion for, wine.
